Why Setting Boundaries Isn’t Selfish—It’s How You Come Home to Yourself

For weeks, I’d felt it creeping in—the fog of creative burnout.
The kind of stuckness that makes even the things you love feel heavy.
The ideas weren’t flowing. The motivation was gone. And the energy? Nonexistent.

And here’s the frustrating part… I knew what I needed to do.
I’m writing my “big book”—my soul’s journey, my hero’s path, my story.
This isn’t just another project.
It’s a deeply personal, raw, and honest memoir filled with the truth of my life—the kind of truth that can only be written from the soul, not the ego.

But how do you hear your soul when the world is so loud?

The Turning Point: Choosing Myself

So, I did something I had never done before.
Something I used to feel way too guilty to even consider.

I left.
Not for long. Just three days.
Two nights and one and a half days, to be exact.

And not to go on a girls’ trip, go shopping, or indulge in a spa day.
But to retreat. Alone. On purpose.

I went to Ogunquit, Maine with one intention:
To be still. To reconnect. To listen.

No schedule.
No demands.
Just me, my journal, my laptop, and my soul.

What Happens When You Get Quiet

That short trip transformed me.
I returned to something I hadn’t felt in a long time—clarity.

I did my own DIY stress reset course—Permission to Pause—and it reminded me how powerful intentional rest and reflection really are.
I wrote several chapters of my book.
And most importantly, I finally heard what my soul had been whispering beneath all the noise.

It told me:
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
You can’t create from depletion.
You’re allowed to say no to the world in order to say yes to yourself.

Boundaries Aren’t Barriers—They’re Bridges

So many women struggle to set boundaries.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that saying no is selfish.
That time for ourselves is indulgent.
That we must earn rest.

But here’s what I’ve learned:
Boundaries aren’t selfish. They’re sacred.

They are an act of self-trust.
A declaration that your well-being matters.
A doorway back to your creative power, your peace, your truth.

Because when you create space to hear your soul,
You don’t just feel better—you remember who you are.

A Gentle Invitation to You

If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or burned out…
Maybe it’s time to take a breath.
To pause.
To ask yourself what you truly need.

Not what others need from you.
But what your inner wisdom needs for you.

And if you’re afraid to set that boundary?
Afraid to say no or to step away for a moment?

I get it.
But what if that very boundary is the beginning of something extraordinary?

When was the last time you gave yourself full permission to step away from the noise and truly listen to what your soul is asking for?
