Have you ever had a mystical experience coming into contact with an animal, or seen the same series of numbers (11:11?), or felt an inkling that you were getting a message from beyond the bounds of everyday life?
I have taught my boys to always look for the magic in the messages. Every experience, every challenge and every unexpected event has a meaning.
When we pause and really connect with the experience, we open to the magic of it.
COVID Challenges
My boys often roll their eyes and dismiss my “mystical ramblings,” however, my oldest son, now approaching 22 years old has recently realized maybe these aren’t ramblings, maybe there are magical messages for him.
My son had COVID last winter and wound up with some frustrating, challenging health complications as a result. These health complications interfered with his ability to play lacrosse with his college team and it interfered with his plan to complete his officer candidate school for the Marines this past summer.
Needless to say, he was feeling pretty uncertain and frustrated. He was searching for purpose, solutions and, now finally…for connection with his spirit and the magic in the messages of his challenge.
It is amazing how being in a place of darkness and powerlessness can cause you to open to possibilities, to spirit, and to the ideas of magic.
Encounters with an Eagle
At his request, I’ve been coaching my son how to connect with the messages of his mind, body and spirit. He has been doing the work and communicating with me, sharing with me his thoughts and his experiences. The good news is, he is playing with his team again, not 100%, but improving every day.
Yesterday, he called me, excited to share an experience he had. On his way back from having some testing done, he had a bald eagle swoop down across the front of his car.
“Ma, I swear, the thing looked right at me. I felt a shiver down my spine.”
“Wow buddy. That is quite a powerful experience! There is definitely a message in this!”
This was my son’s second up close encounter with an eagle in the wild.
We looked up the meaning. Worldbirds.com said: “Chief of all winged creatures, an eagle is symbolic of power and of man’s association with the Divine. It is important to understand the eagle symbolism because it helps us find the drive within ourselves to push further and reach higher.”
The eagle spirit is a symbol for new beginnings, resilience, and stamina for those experiencing difficult challenges in life.
This resonated deeply as my son has had a series of challenges his whole life, but, particularly this past year.
The eagle represents leadership and authority. My son is a natural leader, in fact, he is going to be an officer in the US Marine Corp. He has been questioning this quality and his “place” as a leader lately… Hello! This is the Eagle Calling!
We looked up another site- pure-spirit.com.
“When an eagle appears, you are on notice to be courageous and stretch your limits. Do not accept the status quo, but rather reach higher and become more than you believe you are capable of. Look at things from a new, higher perspective. Be patient, be present; know the future holds possibilities that you may not yet be able to see. You are about to take flight.”
Native Americans, or Indigenous People, have always held the eagle and eagle spirit in high regard. This message resonates loud and clear for both my son and me.
He and his friends have played around with figuring out what their spirit animal is. He always thought his was a bear. He asked me if I thought it was an eagle instead.
My response… take a spirit animal quiz and see what resonates. Here are a few to try. https://www.spiritanimal.info/spirit-animal-quiz/, https://www.quizexpo.com/wpqpersonality/what-is-your-spirit-animal/
Listening to Your Magical Messages
There is magic all around us. We just need to take the time to pause and notice. This awareness will lead to our ability to connect with the magic and the messages of spirit. If you notice an animal, bird, or even a person pop up repeatedly, this may be a message.
If you see numbers or images repeated, this may be a message. It is when we dismiss these experiences, when we lament the experience if it is hard or unexpected, and when we are too distracted by the spin of our life that we miss the magic. We become blocked from the magic.
The first step is being aware of, noticing that there may be a message in the experience or the challenge. Then, you search inside and outside yourself for what the message may be. You will know as the magic will light you up and spark you on your path.
Be well beautiful soul!
